About Spectre Sound Studios:
I’m Glenn Fricker, engineer here at Spectre Sound Studios. I love making records, and after doing it for sixteen years, I want to pass on what I’ve learned. On my channel you can find tutorials on how to record guitar, bass, real drums and vocals. There’s reviews and demos of tube amps, amp sims, drums, mics, preamps, outboard gear, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, and plugin effects.
We’ve covered Moon on the Water, played Bias FX, given you the absolute best in Stupid Musician Texts, ranted & raved about bass guitar, and this channel is where The Eagle has Landed.
Everything you’ve wanted to learn about recording Hard Rock & Heavy Metal can be found right here on this channel!

I also respond to your comments & questions: The best make it into the SMG Viewer’s Comments series of videos. Loads of fun, lots of laughs.

Thanks for checking out my channel & please subscribe!

  • Glenn, I’d literally pay to see you mix maybe a less than ideally recorded track (or even a decent/good one) in real time. Maybe a pateron series, if your clients would let you record you working on their stuff.

  • Hair metal needs to come back. Well minus the clothing and hair style. That song writing style was the best. Fuck it bring back power ballads too

  • Glenn, for real. Last 15 years? Mastodon and Gojira have put out albums in that time, really really good ones. And they will for sure stick around.

  • Back in the day, my drummer (my bro) had a 3rd Gen Camaro Anniversary Edition with no backseat. We loaded his double bass 9pc kit and my guitar rig, plus me and him in the front. We just wanted to play….but that was fuckin ridiculous now that I reminisce about, hahahaha!

  • I don’t understand all the Axe Fx hate.. I get that the Axe Fx users are a bunch of wankers, but in terms of tone, it’s the best I’ve ever heard. I own a Mesa Dual Rectifier, and Mark V, and an EVH 5150 and after trying my friends Axe Fx, I have to say it sounded WAY better than all 3 of my real tube amps. The lows were finally under control the way I like it, and the high’s weren’t so piercing like a real amp would be. I would sell my real amps for an Axe Fx in a heartbeat if I didn’t have other artists coming in to record that “need” a real amp (they don’t, but their ego might).

  • Mixes done on pro tools do NOT have their own sound. They do not sound better. Don’t beleive me, do a null test.
